Darren Modricker has vast commercial experience photographing corporate icons and music industry moguls here in the USA and overseas. He has over 20 years of experience creating fine art portraits from NYC to Madagascar.
In 2002, he founded a separate photography business with several guiding principles in mind. One of the many social goals that he established was to make time in his schedule for projects that not only held meaning for him, but also helped increase community awareness of important causes.
Darren is fortunate to have gained national attention for his portraits by winning the Communicator Award for work on a cancer project. Additionally, his portraits are featured every week on the show Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC. He has also had an entire 30 minute episode on TLC made exclusive to the photo shoot this family.
While living in NYC fulltime for 8 years and working in the commercial world, he earned a national recognition for providing my clients with the best, no exceptions while working on projects with the folks at EMI Records, Jive Records, Ladies Home Journal, and Child Magazine to name a few. This mind set stays with him from the first meeting where he begins exchanging fresh creative ideas with his clients, to the day of their photo shoot where those ideas and more are created of their loved ones. His unique creative process, 20 years of experience, along with the determination to produce only the finest artwork comes to life in a special presentation after the photo shoot.
Equally important, Darren is well known for his generous donations to many local and national organizations. Darren says, “I am proud of the valuable contributions I’ve made to the local and private schools in the area including Governor Mifflin, Montessori Country Day, and Lancaster Country Day. In addition to the world of education, I have made considerable donations to nonprofits such as: Habitat For Humanity, RiverPlace, Berks Humane Society, and the Animal Rescue League. On a national level I have made important and significant donations to health organizations such as: The Lymphoma Leukemia Society, American Heart Association, and The Wellness Community that was recognized by a prestigious national award. I have had the honor and privilege to meet with some very wonderful and courageous people on these projects. My heart goes out to them for the hard work they do to make the world a better place for others.”
About Artist:
Darren created my first print during an elective photography class in the sixth grade, from this grew a lifelong passion. He continued to explore his education and love for art by moving to NYC where he apprenticed with many leading photographers of the time and graduated from the world-renowned School of Visual Arts in 1990. For the next 12 years Darren lived in, as well as, commuted to the NYC while working on projects that gained international attention.
Today, his creative vision is focused on finding the love, peace, and joy of the people he photographs. A constant source of inspiration that Darren draws from are his life experiences and his relationship with his family… “watching my child grow and learn so quickly, witnessing the pride and happiness of my sister who, despite having to live with many disabilities, still loved life... along with my family’s all too sudden loss of her to cancer, and of course my grandfather, who aged gracefully and embraced life into his 90’s has provided a new perspective on life”, says Darren.
As an artist he draws from these life experiences to find the emotional center and inner beauty of the people that he photographs. Darren meets with his client before creating their portraits and puts their minds at ease. Although they may have concerns about age or their physical shape a loved one, they are rest assured their photo shoot will be conducted in a respectful way. And resulting artwork will evoke the person’s true sense of confidence, wonder, and bliss.
